2nd update on Restaurant
We had hoped to re-open the restaurant on Tuesday February 25, but problems have arisen which delayed the necessary cleaning of the facility before it can be opened. We are hoping for an opening on Wednesday or possibly Thursday. Keep watching here for the date.
Uodate on Restaurant status:
An agreement was reached between our manager and Chris Leland that due to recent family circumstances and the pressures from his contracting business that he was no longer able to provide the kind of services that we are accustoned to. On this basis, it was mutually agreed that the lease should be dissolved and an RFP for new lessee posted.
A Statement to ALL Property Owners
We ( the BOD and Manager) have been doing our best to bring the ranch and lodge area back to it's former appearance and attraction for the owners and their guests.
The policies and Procedures for obtaining contracts to do this work and to buy supplies for our own staff to complete as much of the work as possible have been followed as closely to the letter as we can. For those not familiar with areas as remote as Terlingua, contractors are few and far between. In our efforts to save money, we have solicited bids for everything and always strive to go with the lowest responsive bidder. In so doing, we have saved almost 50% from this process on both contracting and supplies.
For those who have been wondering about our practices, we invite you to look at our books. The treasurer is forming the requisite financial committees to do this for you, so look forward to their reports.
As for the decision to remove beer and wine from the cafe, we have tried for 2 years to make this work, including changes to the aggreement with the cafe and it was not successful. The lessee had the choice to go ith a BYOB policy or obtain their own TABC permit and decided to go BYOB.
On the decision to close the cafe and re-open with a new "operator" the decision was made due to multiple failures to operate within the lease agreement and a demand for action letter.
The new operator has agreed to keep the cafe open at least through our spring break rush and may seek to obtain a lease through the normal RFP process.
All possible efforts were made to continue a successful operation with the current lessee, but to no avail.
